As a first of its kind, and size, in Central Victoria; we’re thrilled to see the next stage in the growth of the Bendigo Community Food Hub.
The Bendigo Community Farmers Market will return to the Breen Street site at the next monthly market as a permanent fixture to the hub.
‘The plan for this hub has been a long time coming so we’re thrilled to be back, better than ever, to provide the connect between local growers and local shoppers’, says BCFM President Richard Collins.
‘We’re so grateful for the support of Bendigo Foodshare, The City of Greater Bendigo and City of Gastronomy in helping facilitate our move.
It shows the strength of connections within our region for supporting localised small and medium scaled food systems. And it’s a big step forward in providing a profitable and supported market for our growers and artisanal makers. We’re excited!’
And it’s not just the committee who are excited, Belinda from McIvor Farms Foods says, ‘We are excited to return to the Breen St site; it always gave a good vibe of space and community. It’s great to have a vibrant, local produce and food market in Bendigo that supports local producers, makers and growers.’
Find the Bendigo Community Farmers Market at 227 Breen Street, Golden Square on Saturday 9th November from 9am – 12.30pm.
Bendigo Foodshare will be cooking up some cracking snags at the Community BBQ so we encourage shoppers to have a sausage or two and listen to some great music by Thalia O’Brien & George (9 – 10am), James Rigby (10-11am) and the Choice Voices Choir (11.30 – 12noon) whilst filling their bags and baskets. And all the while knowing the money that goes in buying from the market is a valuable part of a sustainable and thriving food economy which gives so much back to our community.
