For the past seven months, Jaimee has been a valued volunteer with our Marketing and Communications team, generously sharing her time, creativity and enthusiasm. Volunteering has given her the opportunity to give back to her community while also gaining hands‑on experience and putting her Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications and Public Relations into practice.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, Jaimee supports a variety of projects behind the scenes. From creating social media content, website editing, designing graphics to helping with marketing campaigns, her work plays an important role in helping us connect with the community and share the impact of our work far and wide.
“It’s such a great place where I’ve been able to grow my skills, while also being part of an amazing organisation that’s all about helping people,” Jaimee says.
A big part of what keeps Jaimee coming back each week is the welcoming and supportive environment. She says the people she’s met and worked alongside have made her volunteering journey especially meaningful.
“The people here are all so welcoming and kind. I’ve gained so many new skills and learned so much, and I continue to learn and experience new things every day.”
Outside of volunteering, Jaimee is a BIG music lover—you’ll almost always find her with headphones on. She enjoys attending concerts and seeing live music, as well as relaxing with her favourite movies and TV shows. She also has a strong appreciation for the art of filmmaking, particularly cinematography, sound design and storytelling.
Jaimee loves to travel and has explored many countries from a young age, including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, the UK and the USA, with Korea next on her travel wish list. When she’s at home, gaming is another creative way she likes to unwind.
For anyone thinking about volunteering, Jaimee has some simple advice:
“Just do it! Bendigo Foodshare is such an incredibly welcoming place, and at the end of the day, you’re helping your community. There are so many volunteering roles available—there’s truly something for everyone. This experience has helped me so much, and I hope anyone considering volunteering gives it a go.”
We’re so grateful to have Jaimee as part of our volunteer community 💚
