Bendigo UFS Pharmacies has reaffirmed its commitment to the local community, announcing a renewed and expanded three-year sponsorship of Bendigo Foodshare.
The partnership will see Bendigo UFS contribute $150,000 over three years to support the charity’s work, particularly its Grow Cook Share program, strengthening local food security and supporting more people across Central Victoria.
Bendigo UFS has been a major sponsor of Bendigo Foodshare since 2021. This renewed commitment reflects a shared vision between two community-led organisations working together to create lasting impact.
Bendigo Foodshare CEO Michelle Murphy said the continued support from Bendigo UFS will help grow the organisation’s ability to grow, cook and share food.
“We’ve had the support of Bendigo UFS since 2021, and to have this commitment extended for another three years will make a meaningful difference to our work,” Ms Murphy said.
“This funding supports the operation of Golden Gums Farm in Strathfieldsaye as part of our Grow Cook Share initiative, helping us produce more fresh, healthy food for our community.”
“With a focus on engaging young people and culturally diverse communities, the Grow Cook Share program is helping build a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable local food system.
“This significant contribution from Bendigo UFS allows us to employ a part-time farm coordinator to oversee our market garden operation,” Ms Murphy said.
Bendigo UFS Pharmacies CEO Nicole Cox said the partnership reflects Bendigo UFS’ longstanding commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the health and wellbeing of the local community.
“At Bendigo UFS, community is at the centre of everything we do,” Ms Cox said.
“As a member-owned organisation, our ability to give back is directly driven by the support of our members and customers. Partnerships like this allow us to invest in programs that create meaningful, long-term impact across our region.”
The partnership will also be recognised on one of Bendigo Foodshare’s food relief vans – affectionately named Buffy – highlighting the vital role Bendigo UFS plays in supporting communities across Central Victoria.
Bendigo UFS’ community impact is made possible through its member-owned model, with thousands of members contributing each year. Unlike traditional pharmacy models, Bendigo UFS reinvests back into the local community through health initiatives, partnerships, sponsorships and wellbeing programs.
For just $20 per year, Bendigo UFS members not only receive access to a range of health and retail benefits but also contribute directly to local community outcomes. Half of every membership fee is reinvested into community partnerships and initiatives, helping support organisations that improve the health and wellbeing of the region.
This model allows members to play an active role in strengthening the local community simply through their membership.
Since 2005, Bendigo UFS has invested more than $800,000 into local organisations and initiatives dedicated to enhancing community health, wellbeing and social connection across the region.
