We’re excited to announce that Bendigo Bank, Australia’s fifth largest retail bank, has signed on as the major partner for our annual fundraiser Bendigo Bank Million Meals in May for 2019.
Bendigo Bank recognises the power of community contribution and has a long history of investing in the prosperity of the Bendigo community – a 160-year history, in fact.
To support the appeal, Bendigo Bank has volunteered its branch network to act as collection points for community donations and will hold a series of fundraising events for staff and customers in May.
Marnie Baker, Managing Director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank said the bank was proud to support Bendigo Foodshare in its mission to help people struggling to afford food to make healthy meals.
“People experiencing financial hardship are more likely to reduce their spending on groceries just to make ends meet,” Ms Baker said
“A timely response and a focused community effort to support the needs of people experiencing food poverty is required to make a real difference, and these are the attributes that underpin our community partnership with Bendigo Foodshare.
‘Not-for-profit organisations like Bendigo Foodshare have a profound effect on our wider community; and I am humbled by the work that Foodshare does and am proud to support an organisation committed to improving the lives of those experiencing food poverty in our region.”
