Bendigo Book Fair is back again for another Easter
The Bendigo Book Fair is back again for another Easter raising funds for Bendigo Foodshare to help feed Central Victorians doing it tough.
The Bendigo Book Fair is held at YMCA Tom Tweed Stadium in Mundy Street Bendigo over the four-day Bendigo Easter Festival and is aiming to raise more than $30,000 for Bendigo Foodshare.
Bendigo Foodshare CEO Michelle Murphy said tens of thousands of pre-loved books, magazines, records, CDs & DVDs are on offer, all at bargain prices.
“The funds raised will help us to continue to provide food to Central Victorians struggling to put food on the table,” Ms Murphy said.
“For the past 50 years, the Bendigo Book Fair has been a big part of the tradition of the Easter Festival, and we’re so pleased with the help of our dedicated volunteers we can host the Book Fair yet again.
“Book resellers, book lovers and visitors alike travel from far and wide to attend the Book Fair and find their next great read.
“Books are constantly being refilled and rotated by our volunteers throughout the day, so there is always something new each time you visit over the weekend.”
Books are all sorted into categories and prices start at 50 cents for children’s books, $2.50 for non-fiction, $2-$3 for novels, and collectables are individually priced.
Bendigo Foodshare took over the running of the Bendigo Book Fair from the Y Service Club of Bendigo in 2023, with the past two events helping to raise almost $50,000 for the charity.
The Book Fair is made possible by a team of Bendigo Foodshare volunteers led by Garth Keech, who give their time every week to sort the books and set up and pack up this huge event.
Garth said “the team of volunteers have been busy sorting books each Monday and Thursday morning all year round and we couldn’t do it without them.”
Bendigo Foodshare is calling out for the public to donate their time and volunteer for 2hr shifts over the long weekend.

- Easter Saturday – 9am to 5pm
