A Giant Thank You to Peter & Lynette Teasdale from Teasdale Ag!

We’re so grateful to the generous and amazing Peter and Lynette Teasdale, who’ve donated 3 tonnes of chickpeas grown on their family farm in Rupanyup – a property that’s been in the family since the 1870s!

Each season, the Teasdales harvest around 500–600 tonnes of chickpeas. This year, they’ve kindly shared some of their crop with us – and we have enough to support not just our own food relief efforts, but also to share with our partners across the state.

Our incredible volunteers will be busy decanting chickpeas from huge bulka bags into handy 1kg bags for our food relief partners. Two of the bulka bags will head out to support food relief efforts across regional Victoria.

When soaked, 1 cup of chickpeas becomes 3 cups – so for our 3 tonnes of chickpeas, that’s 45,000 cups of chickpeas! Now that’s a lot of nutritious meals!

These chickpeas might be smaller in size (4–6mm instead of the market-preferred 8mm), but they’re packed with the same great taste and nutrition.

This is not the first donation from the Teasdales. During COVID, they donated 3 tonnes of lentils – a true reflection of their commitment to community.

At a time when many in the farming community are doing it tough with drought and other pressures, it’s humbling to see such community spirit and generosity. Farmers like Peter and Lynette always find a way to lend a hand, and we are so thankful.
