After volunteering with Bendigo Foodshare for eight months, we say a sad goodbye to Emma as she moves to Melbourne.
Emma believes that food security is an important issue and was interested in the amount and type of food we receive (and where it goes in our community). Emma enjoyed meeting new people at The Shed as well as keeping herself sharp by using her forklift skills.
“I am fortunate enough to have some time to spare; it’s important to me to give back and be involved in the local community.”
As a cartographer by day, Emma found it great to get out of the office to do something hands-on to help the community.
Emma, who by-the-way, can also ride a unicycle, encourages others to volunteer at Bendigo Foodshare as “you’ll probably get more out of it for yourself than you think you will!”
Our Wednesday team wanted to say a great big thank you to Emma for her skills on the forklift and her willingness to help out in whatever way is needed during the afternoon.
