As part of our Food Relief Partner visits, Joe, Hailey, and Michelle from our team visited the Bendigo office of Haven Home Safe, one of our 90+ food partners we support across Central Victoria.
In a world where homelessness and housing insecurity remain pressing issues, Haven Home Safe plays a vital role in connecting people with housing options and integrated support services—helping individuals and families find and keep a place to call home.
During our visit, we learned more about the incredible work of the Bendigo Haven Home Safe team and explored ways we can collaborate to educate the community about food poverty and reduce the stigma of asking for help.
Haven Home Safe’s residency programs provide housing for up to two years, with the goal of helping residents transition to permanent accommodation sooner. While many residents successfully move on to secure housing, some former residents continue to return for food relief—highlighting the ongoing importance of access to healthy, affordable food for everyone in our community.
In the 2024–2025 financial year, Bendigo Foodshare distributed 7,044 kg of food to Haven Home Safe in Bendigo—equivalent to over 14,000 meals for individuals and families in need.
