Meet Isabella! She’s been a volunteer at the Golden Gums Farm for a few months now, and her passion for growing fresh produce and giving back to the community is truly inspiring.  A great example of how she does this happened last week. After a morning of farming with us, Isabella’s mind turned to what she could share with her community in Axedale – things to eat and things to grow. So she picked some zucchinis and squash for their community’s Foodshare program and seeds to plant in their community garden.

Here’s what Isabella had to say about her experience:

“Volunteering with Bendigo Foodshare has allowed me to spend meaningful time outdoors, share my gardening knowledge, and connect with a wonderful group of people. The work is diverse, rewarding, and the harvest is always bountiful. It brings me so much joy to take some of the extra produce to Axedale Foodshare, along with what we grow at the Axedale Community Garden. Growing and sharing healthy food with others has a positive impact on my own wellbeing, and I know it makes a difference in the community. To me, growing healthy produce and sharing it with the community is a source of joy. Seriously, there isn’t much that makes me happier! Thank you, Bendigo Foodshare, for letting me be a part of your journey!”

We’re so grateful for volunteers like Isabella, whose commitment and passion help make a lasting impact in our community.
