The Spring Bendigo Book Fair will be back for a second year at the Bendigo Town Hall over the AFL Grand Final Long Weekend.

Over the three-day event the volunteer team led by Coordinators Garth Keech, Margaret Keech and Wayne Meehan, is aiming to raise more than $30,000 for Bendigo Foodshare.

“The funds raised will help us to continue our work to provide food for 15,500 people every week across our region who are struggling to put food on the table,” Bendigo Foodshare CEO, Michelle Murphy said.

The Bendigo Book Fair is held twice a year, during the Bendigo Easter Festival and over the AFL Grand Final Long Weekend and features tens of thousands of pre-loved books, magazines, records, CDs and DVDs.

The Bendigo Book Fair has been coordinated by Bendigo Foodshare for the past two years, with proceeds from this Spring Book Fair expected to bring the fundraising total to over $250,000 raised for the charity.

The Book Fair is made possible thanks to a team of Bendigo Foodshare volunteers who give their time every week to sort donated books and coordinate the event.

“Behind the scenes, our incredible volunteers work tirelessly each week of the year sorting books, with over 50 volunteers helping on Fair days, setting up venues, managing payments, restocking books and keeping everything running smoothly,” she said.
Books are all sorted into categories and prices start at 50 cents for children’s books, $3 for non-fiction, $4 for novels, and collectables are individually priced.
