A huge thank you to Bendigo Fresh who have just joined our list of regular food donors.

On Monday, two members of our team went out to the beautiful 36 acre farm in Maiden Gully to pick cabbages and cauliflower and meet with Gavin, the owner of the farm (pictured).

Gavin grew up farming and took over from his dad as owner and operator when he was just 20.
The beautiful farm produces 200,000 lettuces, 80,000 cauliflowers, 40,000 cabbages and 225,000 onions each year! What an amazing effort.

Running a farm is hard work, between growing and nurturing the vegetables, packing orders and making deliveries, there is no time left to pick the leftover veg they want to donate to us. And gee do we love avoiding food waste. That’s where you come in… we need some volunteers to go and pick cabbages and cauliflowers and bring them back to the warehouse in one of our vans. If you or someone you know has a green thumb, please let us know.

If you have a business that produces food waste and/or has leftover food, you too can donate it to us to assist those who are doing it tough. Email us at info@bendigofoodshare.org.au or call us on 5444 3409, every little bit helps.

And if you would like to purchase some of Bendigo Fresh’ products directly from them you can contact them at BendigoFreshwholesalers.com.au.
