Something very exciting happened at our warehouse on Thursday – the Bendigo Woolworths Managers came to visit!
Over the years Woolworths have supported our work in many ways.
Almost every day our vans head out on the road to source food from local supermarkets, including all five Bendigo Woolworths stores located throughout Bendigo, who have been donating excess food since the very beginning, 11 years ago. During that time, we have rescued 720,711kgs from them, which is the equivalent of 1.4 million meals shared with our community!
Bendigo Woolworths stores are great supporters of our Annual Food Drives with almost 30,000kg of valuable pantry staples collected in their yellow bins.
Woolworths is also one of our valued sponsors, having previously supported our “Benny” van program and most recently becoming one of our very first Gold Plate Sponsors.
And now they’ve added volunteering to this very impressive list! Joe and Kaye started by giving them a talk and tour of the shed before they jumped in and helped our volunteers with the afternoon fruit and vegetable sort.
