Make a meaningful impact on your staff, company culture and the community through corporate volunteering at Bendigo Foodshare.
Our volunteer sessions provide an opportunity to bring your team together and strengthen relationships outside the office while contributing to environmental and social change. These sessions also provide teams with a greater awareness of how we can all play a role in supporting a fairer local food system.
To discuss all these corporate volunteering options, please contact our Community Relations Manager Emma Bourke on [email protected] or 0429 963 029.
Cooking for Change
In this fun-packed session, you and your team will prepare and cook up to 150 meals made from rescued nutritious food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
These sessions are ideal for 9 people, run for four hours and include full instruction and support of a qualified cooking teacher.
Dates: Thursday mornings 8.45am – 1pm
Cost: $900 a session + GST
Group volunteering at the farm
Our farm, Golden Gums, is located in Strathfieldsaye and provides participants with the chance to connect with the land, contribute to the farm, and learn about regenerative farming practices. The farm provides a hands-on learning environment for young people along with others in our community to learn how to grow food under the guidance of our experienced farmer, Steve.
Each volunteer day is unique (whether it’s sowing, planting, weeding, watering, or harvesting) – all activities contribute to running our farm. No farm or gardening experience is needed, just a love for being outdoors! Volunteers must wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty, plus bring a raincoat, sun protection and water bottle.
Cost: $400 + GST for a 2-4 hour session, for groups of 4 plus people.
Dates: Monday, Tuesday (others available upon request)
Talk and tour
Is your team interested in what goes on behind the scenes on a day-to-day basis at our warehouse? Come along for a 30-45min talk and tour and learn about our history, what we do, why we do it and while one of our staff shows you where the magic happens.
Dates: Best days Tuesday and Thursday between 1-3pm.
Cost: A donation would be greatly appreciated
*Note talk and tours of the warehouse have been put on hold until 2025, while we transition into our new home in Golden Square.
Regular volunteering
Would you like to regularly give your time? Why not volunteer in our warehouse or on the farm once a month? It is possible your workplace offers you a certain number of company-paid volunteering days each year, which you could use to volunteer with us at Bendigo Foodshare.
After speaking with your manager and HR department the next step would be to sign up as a volunteer here and then manage your shifts yourself with our shift/rostering app called Better Impact.
Dates: 7-days a week
Cost: Free
