Our vision for Golden Gums Farm is to create a place where young people and others in our community can learn important skills and knowledge.

It’s hoped that participants will grow their own food, develop important values, understand and care for our local food system, and find employment in the local food economy.

We started growing food at Golden Gums Farm in Strathfieldsaye as part of our new Grow Cook Share Food Hub project in January 2023.

We are proud that our Golden Gums grown produce is already being shared across the community, including through local markets, used as ingredients in our Cooking for Change and Café for a Day programs, being served to customers in Bendigo restaurants and cafes, and also shared back into our food relief efforts across central Victoria.

Owners of the land, Jess and Jeremy White, kindly made their market garden available for us to grow our own food. We have been fortunate to work with Jess and Jeremy White in their market garden at Golden Gums Farm for the last four years. Initially, with the help of a small team of volunteers, the Whites grew and donated some of the produce that they grew in their then-commercial market garden.

A lovely group of volunteers come out to the farm each Tuesday to help out, if you would like to join click here to learn more, or email bridget@bendigofoodshare.org.au
