Students from Marist College’s Vocational Major (VM) Personal Development Skills class have truly immersed themselves in supporting Bendigo Foodshare this term — helping our local community build food security in lots of different ways.

As part of their curriculum, students were asked to identify a community agency and explore how they could support those in need. They chose Bendigo Foodshare and absolutely rose to the challenge, engaging in lots of our activities, including:

  • Talk & Tour: They visited our Golden Square warehouse to learn how we operate and the impact of food relief in Greater Bendigo.
  • Cooking for Change: They cooked and donated 46 healthy meals to help people doing it tough.
  • Hands-on Volunteering: Every Monday afternoon for four weeks, they rolled up their sleeves at our Golden Gums farm — weeding, preparing beds for pumpkins and rhubarb, and learning about sustainable food production.

Marist College is raising the next generation of volunteers and community leaders, showing how young people can make a real difference. Their energy and commitment have been incredible, and we’re so grateful for their support.

Your school can get involved too! If you’d like your students to learn, connect, and contribute through Bendigo Foodshare programs, keep us in mind for next year.
